The difficult is done at once; the impossible takes a little longer

I love this axiom attributed to our Armed Forces. It seems we are in a position to reinvent the wheel. Isn’t it time that we look to our own resources to make the necessary changes in our lives? Remember, we are responsible for all of our actions and we have the ability to create anything we put our minds too. Anything that is concrete started as an idea.

What is your idea?

Excellence Means A Commitment to Completion

One of the things I like about the Army is their  7 Core Values:

1-Loyalty

2-Duty

3-Respect

4-Selfless Service

5-Honor

6-Integrity

7-Personal Courage

How many of them do you ascribe to? Where would we be as a Nation if everyone practiced these 7 core values? Wouldn’t it be great if there was a course in Values in schools, corporations, families?

The business world is getting a bad rap these days with AIG etc. Just think, if a number of CEO’s would pick a school, partner with it, teach life skills and business skills, and showcase his or her expertise, how would that effect the country?

I have started the process of incorporating a 501-3c CEOCares to help facilitate this idea.

We need leaders to act as leaders and teach by example.

What are you excellent at?

Are You In Your Comfort Zone?

Do you have a schedule and do you stick to it?

My regimen starts at 4:45 AM. Yes, 4:45 AM! Now I know I could  roll over and go back to sleep. That would be  the  easy thing  to do! I also know that when I get out of bed, I will exercise, do some reading, have some quiet time before the rest of the family wakes up. These are all benefits just for getting up early. What about you? Do you have certain things that you do that help you to push the envelope?

The reason I ask is because when we do not do these things we get stuck in our comfort zone. I think this is what is happening in the schools of America. We are not pushing the kids to think . We are pushing them to collect data.

You may ask, “How does this effect me?” Well basically, it is the ripple effect. Wouldn’t it be cool if you could volunteer at a school and help them with something? Life skills, music, art, anything!

I bet you would bust out of your comfort zone and so would the kids!

What Can We Do? Pt 1

I was reading one of my favorite bloggers and thinkers today, Seth Godin. He believes that because of corporate layoffs, and cutbacks in new projects,  that this so called “slack” time can be beneficial if used properly. He suggests possibly using the time for study to become and expert in your field. Dan Kennedy always espouses that a couple of years of study, while you are in your present job, creates an expert.

Imagine what you could do on slow days, or even slow weeks? What if you used this time to volunteer and mentor kids in a school?

It could be possible that you may find a new career or passion! I am in the process of developing ways to help children in the NY City school system.

I believe we already have the tools we just need the awareness!

Education does not mean teaching people what they do not know. It means teaching them to behave as they do not behave

CEO-Chief Education Officer

With the current demonizing of big business and their CEO’s, I have a solution! Why not put together a clearinghouse for CEO’s and high level executives to go into schools and teach real life lessons! Children can be so creative and not only will they will learn from the CEO’s but some of their ideas could be innovative as well!

Moreover, the giving back works on so many levels.

Do We Need A Stimulus or Do We Need To Stimulate?

In the dictionary, the definition for stimulus is: noun: thing or event that evokes a specific functional reaction in an organ or tissue. Well, I won’t tell you my functional reaction, to the Stimulus Package, but I bet you can guess!

We really need to stop giving it all away and start having the private sector start developing programs that work to educate and stimulate.

This is what I am all about! I have some ideas that I will begin to expand on in the next few posts

I know that when someone is given a stimulus, it gives them incentive. The question is for what? Another stimulus?

We Gotta Get Out of This Place!

So word is out that the Obama Administration wants to increase taxes on the rich as well as increase taxes on business. Then while watching the Weather Channel they broadcast  a commercial with the tag line, I am paraphrasing, New York isn’t it time the rich pay their fair share?

What gives? Don’t you think it is time to break out of this mentality? Shouldn’t we as entrepreneurs and CEO’s make our voices heard? Shouldn’t we be creating (key word) alternatives to lower the deficit? Or are we just going to let this take over occur?

Depression is a mindset! We can do better.
